There is Cleansing in the Blood.

     Have you ever desperately needed a shower after a long grueling day?  Obviously, some jobs are more stressful and seem to collect more grime than others.  Nevertheless, each of us go through the days of our lives coming in contact with experiences, abuse, neglect, sin, dirt, and grime.  We all need a good shower to help remove the stench that we and this world can create.
     It is the blood that is the medium for cleansing of the body.  The lungs, liver, and kidneys remove, detoxify, and filter the harmful wastes, toxins, byproducts of the body's daily functions and exposures.  These organs are able to cleanse the body through the ever flowing properties of the blood.  In order for this cleansing to happen, the blood has to be constantly circulated through the body. If blood flow stops, toxins, byproducts of metabolism, and wastes accumulate and death rapidly occurs.
    Spiritually, the blood of Christ is no different.  It is that ever flowing source of forgiveness and cleansing that is available to all who take advantage.  The cleansing power of the blood is a prayer away to remove the trash that the world throws at you daily. Begin and end each day with a refreshing shower giving and receiving forgiveness. Keep it flowing! Be cleansed by the blood of the Lamb of God.  Though your sins be as scarlet, the blood of Jesus will wash them white as snow. Leviticus 16:30 says, "For on this day shall atonement be made for you to cleanse you.  You shall be clean before the Lord from all your sins."

There is Hope in the Blood.

     This weekend reminded me of a complicated delivery I attended 29 years ago.  Her mother, several weeks prior to delivery, began to show protein in her urine and high blood pressure.  Later she began to swell and her blood pressure continued to rise.  By 35 weeks of gestation her mother began to show signs of a potentially serious condition called pre-eclampsia.  Largely unclear in its pathology, pre-eclampsia has something to do to the interaction between the mother's uterus and the infant's placenta.  It is a progressive condition during pregnancy that, ultimately, is only cured by delivery of the infant.        High blood pressure, protein in the urine, swelling or edema in the tissues, and neurologic signs are all signs and complications of this condition.  Occasionally, if not controlled, could proceed to severe seizures and stroke.
